3 Simple Steps to Stay Spiritual and Sane in Ramadan

We spend 11 months looking forward to Ramadan but when it come closer we start fearing about it and create a lot of conflict within us. On one hand, we anxiously wait for this month to come and on the other hand, we are so frightened at the thought of long day of fasting. Here question arises that how does one remain focused and sane with busy their busy routine while fasting? Here are these ways to manage your sanity while working in this holy month:

Planning Your Meals is Primary

First thing to do is to think about what you are going to eat at suhoor and iftaar time. What you eat at suhoor time has very powerful impact on your energy levels and while we need the proportions of protein, carbs, fruits and vegetables, we do need to ensure that we do not overload carbohydrates.

When you eat too much portion of it and your body has to work harder to process it, you will feel tired lethargic. And when you feel sluggish at your work then you are less able and less productive to do a good job. So you need to consume right amount in order to stay active at work and earn your wage.

Plan Your Annual Leave in Advance

Try your best to take your annual leave for last 10 days of Ramadan. This way you can focus entirely on the holy month rather than having to balance the struggle between fasting and work.

In case you are a school or college student with no holidays then plan the last ten days in the start of Ramadan on making the best of those hours in which you are free in your school. Make a schedule of how you want to spend your day from traveling back from school or college in your car so that you will be able to follow once you reach home.

Plan What You Will Do When You Get Home From Work

It does not matter if you want to take a nap or if you just want to relax for a little while, the key is to be deliberate. It becomes a lot easier for you when you know what you are doing. You can easily maximize your time even f you are sleeping or relaxing.

Plan to sleep right after taraweeh to wake up fresh and early for Tahajud and Sehri. There is a lot of sawab in these early hours so use them to read Quran or offer additional nafl.
