The month of Ramadan is a month in which Allah multiplies our good deeds, expunge our sins and raise the ranks. The month of Ramadan has been named so because it erases our sins and allows us to do more good during the Holy month. Ramazan is one of the names of Allah Almighty and one should not pronounce it like, ‘This is Ramazan, Here comes Ramazan or Ramazan has departed or arrived’ as surely Allah Almighty neither arrives nor departs. It is narrated that Ramadan is one of the most beautiful names of Allah Pak. The Holy Book Quran certifies the importance of Ramadan and fasting stating: “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious).
The month of Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days relying on moon sighting and according to narration, Allah Almighty has divided this blessed month into three parts. First part tells us about mercy of Allah, second part reflects forgiveness of Allah and the last and third part reflects safety from the hell. Allah is the only true merciful and Ramadan is the month of forgiveness and mercy that provides Muslims an opportunity or chance to seek shelter from Hell for our sins and prohibited acts. 1st Ashra of Ramadan:
The first ten days of Ramadan are mentioned as the first Ashra of the Holy Month. These ten days are famous for the mercy of Allah Almighty and in these ten days He is more than willing to shower His mercy over us and all those who fast and ask for His mercy.
Dua for First Ashra: Rab-bigh-fir war-ham wa Anta Khair-ur-Raahimeen. (Surah Al Muminun: 118)
Being the creation of Allah, it is compulsory that in the first ten days of Ramadan, Muslims comply to Him and appeal for His mercy so that He may praise and forgive us. In order to ask for His mercy, one should do the deeds that are virtuous and that supplicate Him the most to shower His mercy. Be Charitable:
Being charitable is one of the vital preaching of Islam. When one is charitable, it means that they are ready to help others from the means Allah has given to them. Furthermore, giving charity also means that a person is willing to spend his or her beloved wealth on the creation of Allah, whom He loves the most. So, when one is charitable to others, Allah Almighty in exchange showers His mercy upon that person.
Offer Mandatory Prayer:
Whether it’s Ramadan or no Ramadan, any exceptional occasion or normal day, the necessity of regular mandatory prayers cannot be superseded by anything. The five times a day Salat is the recommended means of praising Allah Almighty and one of the most effective ways of invoking Him for guidance, help, mercy and forgiveness. Furthermore, in this blessed month of Ramadan, the reward connected with every mandatory act increases many a times. Ergo, the offering of regular prayers throughout the first Ashra of Ramadan is certainly a means of invoking the Merciful aspect of the personality of Allah Almighty.
